snow, snow, & more *%!@^ SNOW!
I (like everyone else around MI) am SICK of the freezing cold temps & the snow! A vacation is all I can think about with these single digit days. Steve & I do have one scheduled - kid-free & all, but at last count it was some 50 odd days away... In the mean time I have been hitting our sledding hill with the kids anytime it gets above 20 out! Aunt Kortney & Charlie joined us on our last outing - here a few pictures to share:

the apple of my eye
Charlie is fascinated with our fridge! He loves to peek into the drawers & play with the beer & wine bottles in the door. This week he figured out how to open the drawer & he popped out with an apple. It brought back many memories of little Cody munching on apples all day long. He is so happy with an apple in each hand! He eats them (just like Cody did) right down to nothing if we don't snatch them up in time. I wish my pig out sessions were as innocent as a few apples...

Cody Update-
A few of my faithful readers & family members have been calling to check on Cody. Ever since his slumber party with Gigi, he has been breaking out in the "itchies"! I have washed everything, watched what he was eating, & finally, called the doctor. Cody actually broke out with the "itchies" while we were in the Doctor's waiting room. So sad that he was itching again , but it was the prefect oppportunity to show Dr. Bolan just what was going on.
Turns out the "itchies" were hives & yes, Gigi's cat is the bad guy in this story...
Dr. Bolan gave him some beefed up Benedryl & told me he would probably crash. He surprised us all - He was bouncing off the walls before we even left the doctor's office. He was so wild, that I even thought it was funny! We had to swing by Target on our way home & he must have put 50 things into the cart in his craze. He was messing with the bras, screaming for Batman jammies, & trying to climb the mountain of pop. Needless to say that I wasn't too broken up when I had to drop him off at home and head out for tonight's Junior League Information Night. Then it was up to DAD!
*Steve is too sweet to me - he never complains (OK, once in awhile, but he still cleans the kitchen nearly everyday!)
-On to tomorrow & it's adventures!

Happy Birthday Steve
Today is Steve's birthday - We started celebrating last night at Centennial with Big Daddy & the Doumas, dinner, & a surprise birthday dessert.

The kids & I made Steve a tractor cake to celebrate the big 3-5! Lindsey was a surprisingly good egg cracker. Both of them really dig into licking the bowl...i have no idea where they got that taste for cake batter from???

The kids decided on what to get Steve for his birthday - it was either a new dog, a new red truck, or a "cozy" to watch TV all cuddled up in. Can you believe I opted for the cozy? They picked out the best of John Deere fleece & we made the cake to match! It was perfect for Dad!

Everyone sang loudly & helped Dad blow the candles out!

We might now have done anything extra exciting or "special for your birthday", but we love you!
Happy Brithday Steve!

Going to Gigi's house!
-bringing the essentials over for the big night!
Cody was so excited to spend the night at Gigi's house on Friday. Gigi was also babysitting for another little friend, Madison, so that just added to Cody's big night!
Our sad discovery is that we think Cody is quite allergic to Gigi's cat. Little Peanut had Cody caughing and covered in rashes & welts...So we;ve been trying to clear that up. We'll be off to the doctor tomorrow to make sure that is what caused it. Hopefully we can find another way for Gigi & the kids to have their special nights in the future-

Snow day
So I finally took the big kids out for some sledding! It never seems to be the right day / time, but with a bunch snow & a deep freeze coming our way, I couldn't put it off any longer. We put Charlie down for his nap & hit the back hill. Lindsey was totally bummed out that it wasn't good snowman making snow, but she came around to sledding after Cody & I took a few runs down.

It was all smiles until we tried to go down all together - 3 Soets on a sled is one too many! Cody rode the front & ate a lot of snow...
<
I had no takers for hot chocolate, but we did cuddle up with some popcorn & a new Backyardigans
the kids were all cozied up in their extra snow gear waiting for Steve to get home. I think they had big plans of him hitting the back hill too...It was even colder, pretty dark, & bed time. They settled for a little candy treat without much fuss!

Birthday Girls Night Out at the BOB
After a LONG week of sick kids, I was thrilled to get out of the house with the ladies! Amber just turned 30 a week or so ago & Friday was Andrea's birthday so we talked Jon into being our driver & went to the BOB! We had dinner, a few drinks, a little dancing, & capped it off with a little Yesterdog. We had a great time!

up chuck update
You probably guessed from the title what my week has been like....First it was Charlie yakking in his crib, then came the cha-cha-cha's that still haven't left him, Lindsey developed a unimaginably painful diaper rash that is slowly getting better thanks to some Rx -"Magic Butt Paste", and then Cody chucked all over the couch & throughout last night!
Today he stayed home from school, seemed to feel better, & has decided that he is dropping out of preschool to stay home with me & Charlie - he insists that Lindsey stays in school...
Tomorrow I need to get more detergent, febreeze or something similar, mild food for them & a shiny corked bottle of medicine for me!
***be thankful I didn't post pictures!

Happy 2009!
We managed to sneak out for a bit last night, but we were both snoozing when the ball dropped... the kids have been loving all of the New Year's gear & somehow think that a new year bring them sigificantly closer to another Christmas!

We hit Centennial today to catch up with Big Daddy again for New Year's & to watch the Spartans on Bowl Day...the kids went crazy over the Nagy's batcave there...That's why they are hoping Christmas is right around the corner this year!

Happy 2009 to everyone!!!
