For Christmas, we broke down and got the kids all Pillow Pets - They have been asking me for them for at least 1.5 years. Even Charlie kept giving me the Pillow Pet commercial tag line - "they are practical - a pillow and a pet". I just didn't see what would be so fun about them. I still don't really see the allure, but they LOVE them!

Our Merry Christmas!
Somewhere in the chaos of creating the perfect Christmas season, "it" hit. The kids, the decorating, the shopping, the wrapping, the phone calls from family members all day long, and the school holiday party planning, etc. had all overwhelmed me. I was feeling crazy - like I could never pull off a happy Christmas full of memories for my family of 5, much less the expanded family of Soets & DeVries members. Truthfully, it had started a bit before holiday decor had come out...
-more pics to be posted posted soon!
My world had been seeming more cloudy than sunny for the past few months, but at the bottom of the crazy that was swallowing me up, Steve listened. I cried, bitched, yelled, laughed, and bitched about it all some more - and Steve listened.
In the end, he just gets me.
Through the day - Through the clouds
Through the monotony, the questions, the piles of clutter and never ending laundry, failed expectations, and much needed reality adjusments-
Steve gets me and I love him!
***And thanks to Steve, I got back to me again and we all had a very merry Christmas!

8 years of being Mrs. Soet!

So, yesterday was our 8 year anniversary! Yeah us!
I can't imagine 8 years being full of more life changes - we can hardly remember those kids that got married 8 years ago... Even though my life now is SO busy, noisy, and full of dirty clothes, I feel so lucky!
What a great life - what great kids - all thanks to what a great husband I have!
Love you, Steve!

Cody goes to Kindergarten
He has a week+ under his belt and other than that very first morning (and the morning his mean mom made him wear pants!) he has been a happy kid jumping on the bus and ready to go to school! He was pretty worried about eating lunch at school. All of those days spent this summer giggling about Hubba Bubba the lunch lady with his older buddy Karsyn started to freak him out a little :) But a Reese's PB Cup in his Batman lunch box fixed his fear of the lunch room and Hubba Bubba, too! He has Mrs. Morris who also was his teacher in Young 5's last year, and he knew about 7 kids in his class already. Kindergarten will be great!
The little kids love watching the bus from their chairs in their jammies... Makes me smile every time!
Steve stayed home to help get Cody on the bus for the first morning of school - - - someone had to be able to take pictures, right?!?

Cody's fist day of school went well - His teacher sent me a picture of him playing in the classroom with some new buddies. According to Cody, 3 recesses made him smile! After the bus dropped him back off at home smiling, his older neighborhood friends even humored him & me with taking some first day of school pics. A Batman backpack with muscles and a special cookie had Cody smiling big time!
