Another Baby Buddy!

Perry Joseph Douma
Friday, April 25th
10:51am
7lbs. 14oz.
21 inches

Charlie & I went to visit the Doumas today while the big kids napped. Little Perry is so cute & SO LITTLE! Of course, most newborns would look tiny next to Charlie, but it was so funny to see them lying next to each other with Charlie more than double Perry's size. What a beautiful little peanut!

We're happy that he's finally here and that everyone is doing so well! Congratulations to Amber, Chris, Kaden, & Emmy!

Time & Thomas band-aids heal all wounds...especially little boy ones!

I am truly amazed at how fast Cody's face has healed and improved! The ER nurse told me last Sunday that in a week he would be looking almost as good as new. I thought she was crazy or at least she thought I was- I am thrilled to see how right she was! Cody still has some bruises and little marks here and there that still need to heal, but the progress (as the pictures show) has been quick! Cody is sure that the Thomas the train, Little Einsteins, and Cars band-aids have really made all of the difference. Maybe to him, they did? Every time I walk by "the window" I am still so thankful and quite shocked that he's running around with just a band-aid here and there. We are so lucky!

All Aboard!

We took PopPop (Steve's dad) & the kids to see Thomas in Detroit on Friday. The kids had a great day. Lindsey was such a little trooper - she hiked around the park all day with the biggest smile and the best additude! That was really the first trip we've taken Lindsey on so it was a nice start and a little bit of a surprise. The kids rode Thomas (an actual train), climbed around a big Lego Thomas, played trains, ate junk, made big bubbles, rode in little cars, took a trip on a carousel and saw a few animals at the park. Lots of fun for our little engineers!

Summer Safety-

We had a big scare today and I hope everyone with young kids that reads this blog will learn from our accident! TOday we took the kids out shopping and to the park. We had popsicles outside and opened up the windows to cool off and get some fresh air blowing through. It was naptime and Cody was protesting when he went to smack the window in our sun porch and fell throught the screen. He fell at least 10 feet down, head first, into 1" rocks. I called 911 and the firefighters, EMTs, & police were there in a hurry. Cody and I rode in the ambulance to Butterworth with Steve following behind. My neighbors (who we hadn't met yet) and Kortney came over to watch Lindsey & Charlie. After hours of CTs, X-rays, and doctors, we found out that Cody was so lucky to only have a concusion, cuts and bruises. He was so brave and it was so scary. Please be careful with kids and open windows - I know we will be cranking the AC at our house instead of popping open those windows.

Spring Break -

So we are almost through Spring Break & I know now how much I appreciate having preschool 3 days a week. We are SO ready to see Miss Gloria on Monday! The kids & I have spent our week eating junk food, playing with friends, visiting the doctor again, and even playing at the mall! Playing at the mall is quite a treat for Cody & Lindsey since I am a total germ-a-phobe when it comes to that. Every time we went near the play place at the mall last year we came home sick...which is exactly why we haven't been back for a year. Anyway, no one is sick (yet)and they had fun. Now if it would just get warmer and sunny out -These kids have lots of energy to burn off & I am tired!

As a follow up to Lindsey's last visit to the dr. Steve came with me this time and the difference was amazing. She is officially a Daddy's girl and Steve is offically coming with to the Dr. next time too!

Charlie amazed us all yet again by weighing 14lbs. 11oz. @ 9.5 weeks = BIG baby!

I'm off to iron...K

What a difference a month can make-

Charlie is 2 months old today! He was in a pretty terrible mood today so I didn't catch any of his smiles, but you can really see how fast he is growing & filling out. He is getting pretty good at holding that big melon of a head up too! I had Dr. Bolan weigh him while we listened to Lindsey screaming at her appt. Charlie was 13lbs. 13.5oz this week - HUGE for a eight week old! Next week we have to go back to the doctor for Charlie's 2month check-up and Lindsey & Charlie are both due for some shots. What fun! If anybody wants to come along, give me call...

Terrible 2s!!!

With Cody I think the "terrible" time was around 18mo. By the time he turned two we liked him again! Lindsey has introduced us to the truly terrible twos! At her 2yr check-up this week I had to pull her out from underneath the waiting room chairs (screaming & crying of course). It didn't get much quieter once we saw the doctor either- Not a very fun day for mom or anyone else at Dr. Bolan's!
But she is very healthy and when she stops throwing fits she is actually quite sweet to us. Its usually a matter of extremes with Lindsey. Maybe that is just being a girl? -Regardless, we'll keep her!
