Cody's Pirate Cake

So each year I spend way too much time fussing over the kids' birthday cakes. I was starting to doubt the necessity of this practice during Cody's 3rd birthday. I had spent tons of time obsessing over the perfect dinosaur cake - complete with volcanoes, trees, a lake, & of course, several terrifying dinosaurs. Cody loved his cake so much that the boy who usually devours frosting, didn't want to cut into it. He skipped frosting & cake eating just to keep looking at his birthday masterpiece... It was a done deal after that, I will continue to be tired at each of my children's birthdays & make fun cakes!

This year's project was a red velvet pirate ship for Captain Cody! As cool as it turned out, this year he actually wanted to dig in after he & his entire party of bucaneers ate their treasure cupcakes & all wanted MORE!
It was funny as I stayed up late working on his pirate ship, watching the Olympics that I remembered 4 years ago being up very late watching the Olympics and waiting to become his mom...What a great 4 years it has been!

A special thanks to my team of helpers!

The party was a big hit & before I get around to posting much about that I need to THANK my team of helpers! I can't imagine pulling the party off without all of the help I had. Kortney, Gigi, Mimi, Aunt Terri, & even the kids helped out - THANKS again & again!

Checkin' up on Charlie

Charlie had his 6 mo. check-up & shots today! He was so cute rolling around on the doctor's office paper that I had to take a picture of his sweet smiling face...before he got the shots!

Once again, Charlie was in the 90% of height & weight for his age. We was 19lbs. 6oz. & 28.5 inches long...what a big, HAPPY boy!

Happy Birthday to me!

Yesterday was my 29th birthday! Visits from family, tons of cake, even more frosting, & lots of fun...
Now it's officially time to get ready for the PIRATE PARTY! Aaargh!

Gotta LOVE the Elephant Ears!

So I LOVE elephant ears - always have, always will! I was worried my summer was about to slip away without a chance to savor the cinnamon/sugar topped fried dough delicacy. I missed Festival, Coast Guard Fest, & Trout-o-Rama... Lucky for me we went to the Kent County Fair in Lowell twice on Wednesday & both times we sampled the ears! It seems that Cody & Lindsey are equally enamered with them. I had to fight for my share of each ear. Yeah for carnie food!

Roughly the size of our 6mo. old...YUM!

Linds and her cinnamon moustache...Too cute!<

Family fun at the 4-H FAIR!

Charlie @ 6 months...plus a few days because I'm behind!

So 6 months is here & he is becoming so much fun! H is really rolling all over the house now. He plays with toys, laughs at us & the kids, tries to watch the Backyardigans with his big brother & sister, loves to chew on his feet, and he is almost starting to sit up by himself and he is just about to figure out how to scoot around a bit. It's a fun month!

I thought I would throw these pics in too because today was the first day I was out with the kids and it really felt like I had 3 kids - not just 2 kids and baby Charlie. It is a lot of fun now that we have nap times kind of set, he's eating real food...making real messes, and playing with Cody & Lindsey all the time now-
He is a joy! I don't know if I would have ever believed I would be saying that 3 months ago! :) What a difference a few naps and regular sleep makes!
